Railroad Industry

The Town of Midland has been blessed with a working rail corridor located in southern Cabarrus County for over a century.

Today, Aberdeen Carolina & Western Railway (ACWR) operates the track going through the Midland Town Limits and southern Cabarrus County.  It is a shortline or regional freight railroad in North Carolina that connects with both CSX and Norfolk Southern. (Click the previous sentence for the ACWR website).  Aberdeen Carolina & Western run from Pinehurst towards the center of the state, extending westward into Charlotte, and eastward towards Raleigh. Logistically, the railroad is centrally located between all major metropolitan areas in NC, including Greensboro, Winston-Salem, and Fayetteville.  Aberdeen Carolina & Western operates a transloading facility within the Midland Towm Limits.
